History
The history of Mas del Sord is extensively documented, since 1286 there are the first references to its existence, when its possession fell to the knight Ferrer Gentil de la Selva.
The set of buildings that make up Mas del Sord have been of great importance in the construction of the population to which it belongs, since it was established from the existence of different farmhouses, among which it is the most prominent.
Its contribution of water to the neighboring municipalities was very important, especially after the construction of the Pont Vell in medieval times. Likewise, during this period it served as a defense house for merchants and walkers who suffered attacks by outlaws that shook the area we know today as Baix Camp.
Another relevant fact is that, according to ancient texts, the house was inhabited by members of the Cistercian Order “monks of strict observance” also known as La Trappe (Sacer Ordo Cistersencis).
